The daily fantasy industry has two giants (FanDuel and DraftKings), but there are also some quality smaller sites out there that are slightly different than the big boys. Fantasy Aces is one of them.

Fantasy Aces Contests

Like most sites, Fantasy Aces offers a traditional mix of game types. They have 50/50 and Head to Head games that can be played for as little as 50 cents.

They also offer a nice mix of tournaments (GPP) across multiple prices ranges.

One thing that separates Fantasy Aces from the other smaller sites is that Aces offers a live Championship for the major sports. So you can usually find a qualifier for that in their lobby on the bigger nights as well.

They also run multiple-day survivor tournaments from time to time, which are a fun way for cash game players to chase bigger prizes.

Fantasy Aces Salary Pro

We have all been there. You are make the perfect lineup only to find that it is $100 over the salary cap. On most sites, that means you are going back to the drawing board. But if you are in a Salary Pro contest on Fantasy Aces, you can use that lineup.

Salary Pro contests are unique to Fantasy Aces. There is a salary cap, but you have the option to go slightly over or slightly under it. If you go over the salary cap, you start the contest with negative points (in proportion to how far off you are). If you leave money unspent, you start the contest with some bonus points (again, in proportion to how far under you are).

This opens up a whole new dimension of strategy, which makes it a challenging (and fun) type of contest to play.

Not all Fantasy Aces contests work like this. But they do offer this Salary Pro option for select GPPs and cash games.

Fantasy Aces Scoring/Rosters

When it comes to rosters, flexibility is big on Fantasy Aces.

Fantasy Aces Baseball: 2 Corner Infielders and 2 Middle Infielders (as opposed to the traditional 1B, 2B, 3B, SS). They also have 2 pitchers and a utility spot.

Fantasy Aces Football: 2 QB set up with 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, 2 Flex, K and DEF.

Fantasy Aces Basketball: Split into Guards (3), Forwards (3), Center (1) and Utility (2).

Fantasy Aces Hockey: 1 Center, 4 Wings, 2 Defensemen, 1 Goalie, 1 Flex.

You won't find this type of flexibility on any other site.

The scoring is similar to FanDuel's: basic with no bonuses.

Fantasy Aces Final Thoughts

Smaller sites are often overlooked because they don't offer the lottery-ticket style chance to "turn $2 into $20,000".

You won't find contests like that on Fantasy Aces. But you will find some innovative ideas like Salary Pro, a good mix of game types and even the ability to qualify for a live final (this year's baseball championship has a $100,000 1st place prize and a home run derby at Angels Stadium featuring all qualifiers).  So if you are looking for something different, check out Fantasy Aces!
